An E-Learning Side Project That Grew Into Something More
Hello! I am a parent of two school-going kids in Singapore. Like many parents, we explored a variety of commercial e-learning tools to help support their study journeys. However, we consistently ran into several fundamental limitations with existing options.
🛑 Finite Question Pools
Most websites offer a fixed, static number of questions. If your child needs deeper, custom practice for a target subtopic, they quickly run out of fresh questions.
📝 Limited Question Formats
Most tools rely heavily on MCQs or single-keyword fill-in-the-blanks. They cannot grade open-ended comprehension answers or long-form science explanations.
📱 Poor Multi-Device Support
Many e-learning platforms are built for desktop environment, and feels clunky and unintuitive on smartphones / tablets. This makes study on the go a major frustration.
✍️ Painful Marking & Grading
Flipping to the back of assessment books to check answers is a major hassle, especially for open-ended questions. It is incredibly difficult for parents to grade long-form work fairly and provide clear guidance on where to improve.
Why Not Just Use Generic AI Chatbots?
While generic chatbots are incredibly powerful, keeping them strictly within the limits of the Singapore Syllabus requires writing long, complex prompts every single time. It is also extremely finicky and visually cluttered to manage structured quizzes and grades in a simple, open chat window.
Democratizing Quality Learning
To solve these issues, I spent a long weekend in late May 2026 building a dedicated, fully responsive application for my own kids that works beautifully on both desktop and mobile screens. The result worked incredibly well! After sharing it with a few parents who found it extremely useful, I registered this domain to share it with everyone.
Professor Turtle uses AI to instantly grade work, explain every mistake, point out key areas for improvement, and let students chat directly with the AI if they still don't understand. My belief is that this can democratize learning, giving every child access to a highly personalized tutor without parents having to pay for highly expensive e-learning subscriptions.
💡 About the daily token quota: While the application is free to use, AI generation costs real money (tokens act as fuel for the AI engine). To keep costs manageable and prevent abuse, a generous daily limit is set per account. This quota allows you to generate and grade about 20 to 30 sets of questions each day, which is plenty for personal revision!
